Dr. Robert N. Pickron established his first Orthodontic Assisting Training Program in 1996 as a result of conversations between orthodontists. He recognized that a well-trained assistant helps reduce stress on both the patient and the doctor, thus providing better care and service. The goal was to fill a need for professionally trained orthodontic personnel. In 2001, he purchased the Orthodontic Assistant Training School and changed the name to Orthodontic Assistant School of Atlanta, which is certified with the Nonpublic Postsecondary Education Commission of Georgia. While the basic framework for this curriculum is patterned after successful orthodontic assisting programs in other states, OASA is truly unique as it provides hands-on training in a clinical classroom setting.
We conduct our courses in a practicing orthodontic office, Pickron Orthodontic Care, in Norcross, Georgia. You must be a high school graduate with a GPA of 2.0 or higher to enroll for our courses.
Class Size and Length
In order to provide better one-on-one attention, we limit the number of students accepted to 12 per session. However, the class size is ultimately dependent upon the number of applicants and the time of year.
